About Stella
I have been mentoring students for 2 years now. I first did a training course for this in college.
I then had a mentee for the year and I helped her with revision techniques, knowledge, and as she was not primarily English, helped her with grammar. In the end she did end up passing first year a levels.
I believe I would be a great tutor as not only do I have knowledge, but I can empathize with the student to understand how they feel, it is hard, especially now that a lot of courses has changed, and the pandemic has occurred.
I really want to be able to help people receive what they need to get better at their course and learn how to enjoy it and how it can also benefit in the future.
Psychology and my passion for it for the past 5 years has changed my life, and I want to help change others perspectives on it too.

About me:
I am a university undergraduate student studying forensic psychology. I have previously done both GCSE and A level psychology with qualifications in both, it is a life passion and I enjoy teaching it.
I have previously done mentoring throughout college, here I had an interview and a full day’s training on how to be an effective mentor. I then proceeded to have a student in the year below and helped her to achieve her goal. In secondary school I was a peer mentor which meant I help students aid with learning in the years below. I have also had a recent enhanced DBS check done for your closure.
How I plan to structure lessons:
First lesson is free, and I believe that’s important as this will be used to get to know the student and what they need from me. Instead, I plan to use the first session getting to know the student, their course, and their needs. As well as this, I plan to take notes to learn the strengths of the course so far and what they need more support on.
2nd session onwards: mentoring in areas identified as weaknesses, and checking up on the areas of strength to make sure that they are still strong in these areas, and if they need more assistance, this is how I will prioritise each session topic.
Every 2-3 sessions I will make a progress report which, with the student’s consent will be shared with the family. This is to ensure there is progress with the students learning and they are getting the tutoring they need. This will also help me as if I need to improve my lessons, or focus in a different area, this is how I will know how to do it in the future to ensure there is progress.
At the end of each session: At the end of each session, I will ask the student how they feel the lesson went and what they would like for me to cover in the next session. This is to ensure both of us come prepared and will in return help with a more positive progress report.
Overall, my goal is to promote positive improvements to help the student reach their full potential in their course, and to help them be as passionate about psychology as I am.
Teaching methods:
I plan to use methods that are tailored to how the student prefers to learn. The first session will knowledge me on how to do this. I can do many methods as I do believe I have done all of them at this point:
- Mindmaps
- Colourful drawings
- Highlighting
- Reading techniques such as skim reading for obvious information.
- Writing techniques for exams.
- Videos and podcasts.
- I have many kinds, and would be happy to discuss these further with the student.

As a GCSE Psychology student who is also autistic, I found Stella to be extremely helpful. She is smart, dedicated and patient and I was very lucky and thankful for her help. I can wholeheartedly say that she is the reason I passed my Psychology GCSE.
Stella is a very knowledgeable, friendly person, she listens to you and what you're asking/saying for and tries to help you in every way possible. If she is unsure of something she will go out of her way to find it out and inform you. I highly recommend Stella for a tutor.
Wonderfully talented and knowledgeable about psychology. A great help last exam season. 100% recommend.
HI, I have used Stella`s services for my son Nigel. She was so patient, knowledgeable and her grasp of the subject was impressive, Nigel has a real problem with teachers at his school, but he took to Stella`s learning style really well which he went from a predicted grade D/E to a solid B in his GCSE`s. Roll on Nigel's A levels which I am sure he will ace with Stella by his side.
her offer of virtual learning was brilliant. Highly Highly recommended.
Thanks Again Stella,
