- 5+ years instructing recreational gymnastics classes where my main responsibility is to teach gymnastics and educate students on the importance of exercise and the basics of exercise science. Ages ranging from 1-17 years come to class to enjoy well thought out and time efficient lessons to maximize possible progress in each class. My favorite part of this role is the connections I get to build with my gymnasts as I believe a strong instructor-student relationship is crucial to the effectiveness of my teaching.

- 1 full school year as a tutor for a family of 4 elementary age students. I worked with the family throughout the school and here are some examples of how I assisted them
1. Kindergarten student began learning to read early in the school year, I did research on early reading books and games which we used daily after school. By the end of the year she was reading whole beginner chapter books!
2. 1st grade student took a special interest in earth/space science. He want to learn extra about these topics as the school year curriculum did not allow in-depth in class instruction. I spent a couple hours a week to read extra books and teach mini lessons about the topics he was interested to foster curiosity.
3. 3rd grade student was struggling for some time with times tables, a very common issue for many students. We did extra practice and found games that got her moving and learning were most effective for her. She passed her unit tests with a 55% increase from her original score.

- My studies at Nevada State College in my elementary education classes are a huge resource for me as an educator as well. Everything I learn in my classes are directly relatable to my position as a tutor

About the lesson

A quality education is pivotal to your child's success and I admire parents who are willing to do anything necessary to ensure their kids get the help that they need when academics get tough. My teaching philosophy is centered around understanding how each of my students learns and using it to their advantage. Perhaps your child learns best through hands on skills learning, in which case I would find study tools such as games and flashcards to physically hold in their hands. Or maybe they are able to pick up topics through conversation and story telling and in that case I would create plans catered to that learning style. At the elementary age, learning should be fun and should not feel like a chore. I never want my students to feel like studying with me is a chore but rather an engaging, enjoyable time they get to spend with an educator who cares deeply about their goals.

Typical lessons include
- one on one instruction time with no pressure just one goal, to learn
- personalized lesson plans prepared for each session that builds towards students goals
- goal tracking, students are highly motivated when they know what milestones they are reaching with each session
- Frequent reviews with parents to follow up on accomplishments
