About Emily

I am a TEFL Certified, college graduate seeking to teach English to both
Young Learners and Business Students. I have extensive experience teaching
children and adults both in the UK and abroad. I tutor students of all Levels whether it be a beginner or advanced or somewhere in between! I have experience giving lessons both privately and in a classroom-based environment. I taught classrooms of students of all levels, ages and nationalities in Barcelona, Spain for one year and I have also been an ESL Private Tutor in West Hampstead, London where I taught English to three young French boys aged 4, 7 and 9 within their home. I prepared classes using personal teaching materials and materials provided by the family. I am a Native English speaker and my focus is to improve students grammar, listening, writing and speaking skills. I create all of my course material, including quizzes and reading texts. I have also previously taught as an ESL Teacher at the Centre of English Studies (CES), Dublin Ireland where I taught English to Spanish and Italian students ages 11-17 and utilised the Direct Method teaching model to improve student grammar, listening, writing and speaking skills. On a more personal note; I am a very active person and enjoy many outdoor pursuits, including mountain biking, swimming, and hiking. I have traveled to many places in Europe and enjoy its variety and culture. I also have a full up-to-date DBS check.

About the lesson

I have a passion for empowering young people to fulfill their potential! It is my understanding that for some young students, classroom-based learning does not allow them to achieve maximum results because their teacher simply may not have the time to explain topics in the depth and detail that is required to achieve full comprehension. It is my job to ensure that this detail is covered in one to one learning environment where students can feel comfortable and have the time to practice their English skills without hesitation or embarrassment. I believe in full immersion of the English language so this is what I practice during my lessons. My teaching methods include practice papers and providing each student with notes that are unique to their individual style of learning. I look forward to hearing from you!
