About Ryan

Hello there! My name is Ryan Storr and I come from Edmonton, Alberta Canada. Ten years ago I decided to move to Thailand to try teaching ESL to children and see if I like it. Well, it's safe to say now that I don't just like it, I love it! In this time my students and I have learned a lot! The experiences I have shared with my students so far have created memories that will last a lifetime, however, I am always looking forward to meeting more students and creating more!

I have gained some valuable experience in my teaching career. I spent three years teaching large group classes at a government school, two years teaching smaller group classes at a private school, and three years teaching online. I have also done private in-person tutoring for individuals, small groups, and large groups. Each of these situations provides its challenges. However, these challenges are exactly what makes this job so rewarding! When students and teachers work together to overcome them, anything is possible!

About the lesson

My lessons focus on a methodology called positive reinforcement. This means I reward students when they do well instead of punishing them for mistakes. The result is a more relaxed classroom atmosphere, which is ultimately more effective and produces better results.
Typically my lessons include a mix of Google Slides, PowerPoint presentations, YouTube videos, and videos edited on (concealed information) to include comprehension questions. I usually include 5 different activities in a 25-minute lesson, so there is always something new and interesting to look forward to.
I am a Native English Speaker with a neutral accent and 10+ years of experience. While I always try to make my students laugh and have fun in class, I also am very focused on using this to help have a productive class. My specialty is helping students build confidence and become more comfortable speaking in complete sentences, not just one-word answers.
Generally, my lessons are prepared for children ages 3-12, but I also have extensive experience teaching adults of all ages and abilities.
