About Amanda
I’m a TEFL level 5 qualified tutor, and native speaker who loves words, books, creative writing, psychology, film, television and conversations with new people.
Whilst I’m not opposed to formal-style education; I don’t believe it’s always the best or only way to learn. My previous study includes Psychology, English Literature and Creative Writing. Whilst they are all wonderful subjects, I also appreciate the freedom of independent study, without deadlines and targets. This is the sort of freedom I would like to offer my students, allowing them room to experiment and learn the things that matter to them, without pressure or deadlines. Learning for learning’s sake is a joyous and wonderfully fulfilling thing.

About the classes
Sessions are structured around guided conversation practice on a wide range of topics, selected according to your interests. Topics can include books, television, psychology, philosophy, gossip, and many more.
Other optional activities can include things like:
Storytelling practice which will teach you how to structure and perform entertaining anecdotes.
Interview style role-play sessions which develop your ability to take conversations further and deeper.
Word games that allow you to experiment with sentences to improve your word choices and tone so you can always have an appropriate response ready.
You are free to choose whichever activities will help you most.
Classes are conducted in regular, manageable, thirty-minute sessions, one-to-one, online, at a time convenient to you. Suggestions for independent practice will be offered at the end of each session. Fees are £25 for 30 minutes.
Speaking with confidence is just the beginning. Try delight, surprise, passion, excitement, sensitivity, assertiveness, humour, irony and intrigue. Convey and appreciate humour. Learn to debate, speculate, instigate and fascinate in English conversation.

Those who find textbook-style polite conversations around work and holidays limiting or uninspiring and learn more effectively with a creative approach.
If you’re a learner who needs more variety, novelty and authenticity and a gentle, supportive tutor, then these classes are for you.
Designed to suit short, regular practice, with flexible times, they’re easy to fit into a busy schedule. Although primarily aimed at those learning at intermediate and advanced levels, beginners who find this approach appealing are also welcome.
