About Mark
I trained for three years at the Guildford School of Acting (GSA) making my West End debut in the award-winning play ‘Another Country’ with Colin Firth. Since then I’ve appeared extensively in many national tours, twice been directed by Brian Blessed including his film version of ‘King Lear’ & been a presenter for BBC Southern Counties Radio. For four years I played Gordon Collins in Channel 4’s ‘Brookside’. My film, TV & theatre career continues alongside my playwriting work which has seen twelve stage plays produced & eleven plays & short stories for BBC Radio 4. Radio writing has featured actors such as David Suchet, Andrew Scott, John Sessions, Roy Hudd & Eleanor Bron. I have twenty years experience in acting coaching & LAMDA Exam tuition. For thirteen years I was the full-time Head of Speech & Drama at Bedford Modern School, preparing 260 students aged between 8 & 18 for LAMDA Examinations. In my time at BMS the Speech & Drama department became one of the UK’s largest & most successful schools in terms of LAMDA Exam results & student numbers. For many years I have been a regular course tutor/director at The Brighton Academy (TBA) & also the Academy of Creative Training (ACT Brighton). Earlier in 2021 I was delighted to be asked by The International College of Musical Theatre (London) to direct their graduating students in a 20th & 21st century scenes performance project. Private tuition continues to include LAMDA Exam preparation, public speaking, monologue work & drama school entrance with students gaining places at Central, Guildhall, LAMDA, Bristol Old Vic & The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts. In recent years I have also developed a playwriting course for groups or individuals. Full DBS check.
