About Ellise May
I am a passionate and patient English literacy tutor with over 11 years of experience working in an American curriculum international school. My expertise lies in helping children from Pre-K to Grade 5 develop strong skills in reading, spelling, vocabulary, comprehension, and communication.
As an Assistant Librarian and literacy educator, I have spent years turning books into adventures and helping young learners discover that reading is not a chore—it’s a superpower! I believe every child learns differently, so my teaching style is fun, encouraging, and filled with stories, games, creativity, and plenty of “aha!” moments.
I hold a Library Studies Certificate from IAP Career College and have extensive experience teaching literacy, storytelling, genres, and research skills. My goal is to create a warm online classroom where children feel comfortable making mistakes, asking lots of questions, and celebrating every small achievement.
A little fun fact about me: I can spend hours surrounded by books and still get excited by the smell of a brand-new book! You’ll often find me recommending stories, creating fun reading challenges, and proving to my students that even the biggest readers were once children who struggled with their ABCs.
My mission is simple: to help children become confident readers while making every lesson enjoyable, interactive, and something they look forward to each week!
