About Alice

I have tried and tested methods of preparing students for highly competitive exams. My sessions are structured, strategic and results driven. They are also engaging, varied and enjoyable! I take great pride in supporting students in excelling in the following: o Writing technique (fiction and non-fiction) o Critical analysis and comparative analysis o Identifying language techniques and spotting thematic elements o In depth analysis of characters, context and linguistics o Essay structure and compelling creative writing o Advanced mathematical skills o Numerical literacy o An appetite for complex maths questions o A love for problem solving games I believe all students should be competent in the following: o Exam technique: strategy and time management o Maintaining a sense of calm when under pressure o A can-do attitude and resilience when learning I fully encourage using past papers to identify areas of strength to consolidate and areas of weakness to improve. Overall, I am dedicated to creating a space within which students are supported, challenged and developed.

About the lesson

I am completing my PhD and have a Masters with Distinction from King’s College London. I have an established track record of supporting students through the 7+, 11+ and 13+ process, with an emphasis on developing transferable skills to ensure students are in the best possible position post-exams and in their new settings. My approach to tutoring is strategic, rounded and results oriented. My strength is in adapting teaching to students and ensuring enthusiastic learning. Students should enjoy sessions! My students improve overall, secure offers from the best schools in the UK, excel at interview and successfully obtain scholarships. I undertake a thorough assessment at the outset to understand strengths and areas on which to focus. I also provide support beyond the lessons with additional resources to reinforce learning and encourage ongoing focus. In the last 14 years, I have assisted students in securing places at: St Paul’s Girls’ School, Westminster School, North London Collegiate School, Alleyn’s Forest, Godolphin and Latymer, City, Francis Holland, Blackheath, Notting Hill and Ealing, Harrow and Latymer Upper.
