About April
I am a Canadian English teacher with over 15 years of experience in higher education, English language teaching and academic support. I currently teach English in a university foundation programme, helping students improve their IELTS, academic English, writing, speaking, grammar and confidence.
I have worked with many students preparing for university study, exams and professional communication. My teaching style is clear, patient and supportive. I explain language step by step, give practical feedback, and help students build confidence as well as accuracy.
I am especially interested in helping learners communicate more clearly and successfully in academic, exam and real-life situations.

My lessons are practical, supportive and focused on your goals. I specialise in IELTS preparation, academic English and university foundation-level English, especially for students who want to improve their speaking, writing, grammar and confidence.
In the first lesson, we will discuss your goals, your current level and the areas you find most difficult. I can then design lessons around what you need most, such as IELTS Speaking practice, IELTS Writing Task 1 and Task 2, improving your IELTS Band Score, academic vocabulary, sentence structure, paragraph writing, fluency, pronunciation, grammar accuracy or study skills.
My teaching style is clear, patient and structured. I explain language in a simple way, give useful examples, and help you practise step by step. I can also give feedback on your speaking and writing so you understand what you are doing well and what you need to improve.
Lessons can be exam-focused, academic, or more general, depending on your needs. My aim is to help you communicate more clearly, feel more confident, and make real progress in English.
