About Samuel

Experienced CFA charterholder, with MBA and B.Sc. Mathematics and Computer Science degrees, and qualified management accountant. GMAT 740 (Quant 98%).

Significant experience as MBA on-campus tutor for accounting, finance and statistics and taught MBA level classes and TA sessions. Have facilitated several training sessions at work for colleagues and clients (investment management firms) with excellent positive feedback from participants and co-facilitators. I'm usually the go-to person to understand most topics in relation to investment management, management accounting, finance, risk, regulation, valuation, attribution and controls.

About the lesson

I specialise in CFA exam prep, GMAT/GRE math prep and management accounting. I help candidates work through their materials. For CFA exam prep, it's usually question banks and mock exams from Schweser, Fitch or Quartic plus the Boston society papers. For GMAT it's usually the Kaplan question banks and mock exams. For management accounting, it's usually the BPP materials. It depends on what you have and wish to go through.

I believe that understanding and solving questions is key rather than reading text. Below is how I typically structure sessions and I can tailor the approach based on any specific preferences or needs (e.g. deadlines, scores).

1. Establishing scope - Here clarity is key. Typically you have identified specific topics you struggle with or a subject. If not, I can ask probing questions and help you set this out in the first session.

2. Clarifying concepts - This is based on your needs. Typically we spend minimal time upfront where I recap the conclusions of a topic. If something does not make sense, I specifically dive deep into it and help you understand that plus clarify how it connects with related topics.

3. Solving problems - This is the bulk of a session. Typically based on your needs, I first show you how to work out solutions and give you specific items to work on. In the following session, I can review your work so you see how to think and improve accuracy or speed, and then work on a few advanced problems or special cases.

I have taught classes of 100+ students, small groups of 2-5 and 1-on-1. My usual rates for 1-on-1 are £120/hr. Discounted rates for 1-on-1 of £60/hr are offered currently as I am relatively new on this platform. Group rates vary but will be lesser than the total if each person availed a 1-on-1.
