About FEBINA SARA

Hi, I'm Febina Sara Saji. I hold a B.Sc. in Chemistry (Distinction) from St. Teresa's College, Ernakulam, graduating with a CGPA of 9.30 out of 10 and recognition as Top Scorer of my department, alongside the Prof. Annakutty Prize for Best All-Rounder in my class. I have a strong academic foundation across Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics, built through both rigorous coursework and hands-on research, including a first-author project on novel Schiff base derivatives, presented at a national science conference.
Teaching, to me, isn't separate from my academic life. It's something I've actively sought out alongside it. I've volunteered with the U&I Foundation teaching Physics and Chemistry to underprivileged children, taught at an orphanage where I helped students move from failing grades to C+ and B, led training sessions for my own college classmates, and contributed to a government-backed teaching initiative through Project Disha, in association with the Government of Kerala. These experiences span a wide range of ages and learning levels, and each one has taught me the same lesson: almost every student who struggles with a subject simply hasn't had someone explain it in a way that made sense to them yet.
I want to teach because I remember what it feels like to finally understand something after struggling with it, that moment of "oh, that makes sense now" and I want to help create that moment for other students, over and over. I take a patient, encouraging, and structured approach to every lesson, and I genuinely care about my students' comfort and confidence, not just their grades. I believe strong results and a supportive learning environment go hand in hand, and I bring both to every session.
I look forward to helping you or your child build not just stronger grades, but a real, lasting understanding of the subject.

My approach to tutoring starts with one simple belief: a student can't learn well if they're anxious, embarrassed, or feel judged. So, before we get into any formula or reaction, I focus on making the student comfortable. I meet them exactly where they are, not where a syllabus assumes they should be, and I'm always happy to slow down, repeat, or re-explain something in a completely different way until it clicks.

Techniques & Methodology

I teach concept-first, not memorization-first, always explaining the "why" before the "what," since students retain ideas far better once, they understand the logic behind them rather than just the answer. I connect topics to everyday life wherever I can, so subjects that feel abstract in a textbook (chemical reactions, physics formulas, math concepts) suddenly make sense because they're already happening around us, in cooking, weather, or in everyday objects. I use active recall, asking students to explain concepts back to me in their own words, since that's usually where real gaps in understanding show up. For problem-solving subjects, I break big problems into small, manageable steps, since students often get stuck not because they don't understand the concept, but because the problem feels overwhelming as a whole. And when a student gets something wrong, I treat it as useful information, not failure, we work through the mistake together, calmly, without pressure.

Lesson Length

I typically run sessions of 45–60 minutes, which I've found is long enough to properly build and reinforce a concept, but short enough to keep focus and energy high, especially for younger students. For exam-prep or revision phases, I'm flexible and can extend sessions or run more frequent shorter ones depending on what the student needs.

My Qualifications & Experience

I hold a B.Sc. in Chemistry (Distinction) from St. Teresa's College, Ernakulam, graduating with a CGPA of 9.30/10 and recognition as Top Scorer of my department. Beyond the classroom, teaching has been a consistent part of my life. I've volunteered with the U&I Foundation teaching Physics and Chemistry to underprivileged children, taught at an orphanage where I helped several failing students improve to C+ and B grades, completed a Train-the-Trainer workshop and went on to lead sessions for my own college peers, and contributed to a government-backed teaching initiative (Project Disha, Government of Kerala). So, I've taught across a genuinely wide range of ages and skill levels — from young children to college-level peers.

Who My Lessons Are For

I teach students from primary school level right till college level, across Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, and can extend into Biology and English as needed. I work well with students at any stage, from those who are confident and want to go deeper, to students who are genuinely struggling and need someone patient to rebuild both their understanding and their confidence from the ground up.
