About Sam

I'm an experienced piano teacher (10+ years experience) with an accomplished musical background as a performer, and a First-class degree in Music from the University of Cambridge.

I teach piano to all ages and abilities, from beginner to grade 8.

Please get in touch if you are interested in booking a lesson or have any questions. Lessons are held at my home in Fleet or online.

A bit about me:

My passion for music started from a young age playing the piano before I could even reach the pedals! I was later awarded a scholarship at the specialist music school, Wells Cathedral School where I studied the piano under John Byrne, Professor of Music. After that I gained a place at the University of Cambridge, studying Music at King’s College. Here I had the amazing opportunity to play in numerous concerts and recitals throughout my time there.

About the lesson

My central aim is to make learning the piano both fun and engaging. I encourage my students to develop the best techniques from day one whatever their ability, as this is the foundation of great piano playing.

I also teach my students how to practise effectively, a hugely important skill that is often overlooked in music lessons. I passionately believe that every individual learns differently and spend the first lesson getting to know you, your interest in the piano and music, and your current level and playing style. I’ll then use this to develop a highly tailored approach to your lessons.

Review

All of our reviews are collected by us and are 100% reliable. They correspond to a real experience lived by students with Sam.

Perfect! I’m very grateful that we found such a wonderful piano teacher. The teacher is not only highly professional and knowledgeable, but also really understands children. The lessons are relaxed, enjoyable, and effective. My child has gone from being not very confident at first to becoming willing to practice actively and perform with confidence, and the progress has been very obvious. We truly appreciate the teacher’s encouragement and support.

Samuel is the son of a friend of my mother’s, and he was willing to give me music lessons at his place since I wanted to learn the piano. Three years on, and I am still taking lessons with him and now so is my brother. He is extremely helpful and constructive with feedback, with lots of patience when I’m trying to learn a new piece, and is also a brilliant player himself. I would highly recommend anyone who wants to learn the piano to take lessons with him. Every one hour lesson I have with him is always ,without a fail, extremely productive and fun. An excellent music teacher!

I have known Sam for over six years, and throughout that time I have seen his passion for music. He is an unusually gifted piano player, and visibly enjoys sharing his expertise with others. He has also tutored a number of students over this time, with a substantial degree of success.

Sam has taught me on and off for the last five years. His insightful knowledge, emphasis on strong technique and highly enthusiastic personality made lessons very enjoyable but also gave me the ability to play to a high level. His own top education is apparent to see in the way he speaks about the instrument. True love for his craft!
