About Iris
Ten years ago, while I was studying European Studies in the Hague (the Netherlands), I started teaching Dutch to exchange students. After that I’ve lived in Bruges (Belgium) and Andalucia (Spain) for a while, where I worked as a translator and content creator. Apart from that, I studied at the University of Malaga and have traveled extensively to Asia, Europe, the US and the Middle East.
In the Netherlands I’ve worked for the University of Amsterdam. For the love of languages I spent a long time studying Spanish by myself, which comes in quite handy now that I live in Mexico. Besides that, I’ve learned a lot through different language exchanges, in which I wasn’t just learning, but also teaching English and Dutch to people from Argentina, España, Peru, Mexico, etc. I have experience using specific material, such as Cambridge English and TOEFL.

To learn a language successfully it is necessary to find a way to make learning, at least to some extend, fun. This will help us cope with the grammatical rules, which (unfortunately), we do need to focus on to a certain degree. Reading our favorite books, playing board games, of any other form that sparks our interest, will help us put our new gained knowledge into practice and will help us prepare for using the language in the real world.
Before we start, I would like to review (our even help you set) your goals. You might need to pass an exam, have more success in conducting interviews, or who knows, you might just want to approve your ability (or gain the confidence) to talk to natives. Defining your goals will help us set out the right path and I would love to help you achieve them.

With Iris’s classes I successfully passed my TOEFL exam! We went through all the different types of questions and I learned about strategies to answer each one of them. When I did the TOEFL test before, I ran out of time, so Iris focussed on strategies to avoid that, and what to do in case that should happen again (luckily it didn't!). Iris is very patient and happy to explain the material as many times as was necessary for me. Would highly recommend!
