About China
Hi, I’m Dr. China Catron, an experienced educator with more than 10 years in education. I hold a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership, along with advanced degrees in curriculum and instruction and educational leadership.
Throughout my career, I have taught students, supported teachers, and helped strengthen math instruction across classrooms. I understand that math can feel frustrating or overwhelming for some students, so I create a patient, encouraging learning environment where students can ask questions, make mistakes, and build confidence.
My goal is not just to help students get the right answer. I want them to understand why the math works and develop strategies they can use independently. I tailor my instruction to each student’s needs and explain concepts in clear, manageable steps.
I am professional, dependable, and committed to helping every student feel capable and successful in math.

My approach to tutoring is patient, supportive, and focused on helping students truly understand math instead of simply memorizing steps. I break concepts into smaller, manageable parts, model strategies, use real-world examples, and gradually release responsibility as students become more confident.
A typical lesson begins with a quick review of prior skills, followed by direct instruction on the target concept. We then work through examples together before students practice independently. I use questioning throughout the lesson to identify misconceptions and adjust instruction based on what each student needs.
What sets me apart is my background as an experienced educator and instructional coach. I have over 10 years of experience in education and hold a Doctor of Education, with extensive training in curriculum, instruction, and student learning. I understand how to identify skill gaps and provide targeted support without making students feel discouraged.
My lessons are best suited for elementary and middle school students who need help with foundational math skills, homework support, test preparation, problem-solving, or building overall confidence in math.
