About Nolo

I’m Nolo, a dedicated and compassionate tutor with 2 years of experience teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) to children in China. I’ve worked with learners from diverse backgrounds and understand how to create a supportive, engaging environment that builds confidence and fluency. In addition to ESL, I also tutor mathematics for young learners, helping them strengthen foundational skills and approach problem-solving with confidence. I hold a master’s degree in Business Analytics, which gives me a strong foundation in logic, structure, and data-driven thinking, skills I bring into every lesson to make learning clear and effective. My teaching style is patient, personalized, and always focused on helping students feel seen, supported, and capable. Whether your child needs help with English or math, you can count on me to show up prepared, professional, and ready to make learning a positive and empowering experience.

About the lesson

As a tutor, I focus on creating a warm, encouraging learning environment where students feel safe to ask questions, make mistakes, and grow. I specialize in English as a Second Language (ESL) and mathematics for young learners, drawing from both classroom and one-on-one teaching experience.

My teaching method is interactive and student-centered. For ESL, I emphasize real-world communication, pronunciation, and vocabulary building through conversation, games, and storytelling. For math, I use relatable examples, visual aids, and step-by-step problem-solving to build foundational understanding and boost confidence.

A typical lesson includes a quick review of previous material, an engaging explanation of new concepts, guided practice, and interactive activities to reinforce learning. I adjust every lesson to match the student’s pace, goals, and learning style.

What sets me apart is my patience, adaptability, and ability to connect with students. I believe in celebrating small wins and helping learners see progress in every session.

My lessons are ideal for children in primary or lower secondary school who need support in basic to intermediate English or math, especially those who speak a different first language or need a bit of extra encouragement.
