About Sophia
I have a B.A. in English and have worked as a writing/reading/ESL tutor at Georgia Tech and at an afterschool program for elementary-aged kids. I love teaching and love language. I’m for the most part bilingual in French, as I grew up in Montreal, and can help beginners learn French too.

I usually start with an introduction—saying hi, talking about how we are doing, what the weather is like, what we have done recently, etc. This works for both kids and adults who are beginning their English knowledge; obviously the level of intensity will change depending on age and skill level!
I like to ask students to write a paragraph/story/etc. before the lesson so we can read it together and so I can figure out where the student needs guidance.
Or, if they have a specific thing they are working on—an essay, report, story, etc., we can go over that together.
