About Lucy
I am a professional lyric soprano and composer based in Manchester, with a career spanning opera, recital and concert performance. French is an important part of both my personal and professional life: I regularly travel to France for performances and other musical work, and I have performed extensively in French. I studied French through to A Level and continue to use the language regularly in my everyday life, including with my French partner and his family.
I love languages and communication, and I enjoy helping others develop confidence in using French in a relaxed, encouraging environment. My experience as a professional performer and teacher has taught me how to adapt my approach to different people and learning styles, and I bring that same flexibility to my French lessons.

My French lessons are relaxed, friendly and tailored to each student’s individual goals. Whether you are a complete beginner, studying for school or exams, or simply want to improve your confidence speaking French, I will adapt lessons to your level and interests. Lessons can include conversation, pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, listening and written work, with plenty of opportunities to practise using French in real-life situations.
I studied French to A Level and regularly use French through travel and my professional work in France. I also have extensive experience teaching students of different ages and abilities through my work as a professional singing and piano teacher. Lessons are available online or in person in Manchester, and typically last one hour.
