About Jimmy
I'm Jimmy Kane — guitar coach based in Nailsworth, Gloucestershire, with 30+ years of playing experience and over 10,000 hours of coaching since 2011.
Most guitar teachers teach guitar. I coach the person playing it.
That means I work on your mindset, your practice habits, your consistency — not just your technique.
Because in my experience, it's never really a talent problem. It's a direction problem.
I specialise in rock, blues and metal, and I work best with adult players who've been around the block a bit — returners, improvers, people who are serious about actually getting somewhere this time.
If you want someone to run through scales with you once in a while and send you on your way, I'm probably not your guy.

Sessions are 90 minutes — longer than most, deliberately.
Real progress takes time and space to breathe.
We don't just work on what's in front of you.
We work on HOW you practice, why you keep getting stuck, and what you actually want from the guitar — not just the next technique, but the bigger picture.
Between sessions, I'm available via WhatsApp for questions, videos, and accountability.
You won't just get homework and a wave goodbye.
This isn't a lesson. It's coaching. The difference is we DO what you need to do to play the way you want.

This first lesson offered with Jimmy will allow you to get to know each other and clearly specify your needs for your next lessons.

Details
Sessions run weekly or fortnightly and are charged monthly.
Every session runs for 90 minutes — not the standard 60.
That extra time makes a real difference when you’re working on something properly.
On top of that, you get support between sessions via WhatsApp — so if you’re stuck on something mid-week, you’re not on your own until next time.
I work with a small number of committed players on an ongoing basis, which means the people I work with actually make real progress.
