About Albert

I am a graduate of McGill University with a BsC, currently working in digital marketing. Music is a passionate hobby for me. I taught myself how to play guitar when I was 12 and have been playing for over 15 years. I now write and record my own music in my spare time (link below). My dream is to help you get excited about music by teaching you the instrument through your favourite songs!

I have previously taught 3 different students, all of whom (who?... sorry, not sure) told me that they made the most progress that they have ever made with me!

I can also teach you the magic of songwriting and the basics of production, if you are interested in this.

My favourite musicians are The Beatles, Queen, Nirvana, Weyes Blood, and Santana.

About the lesson

My lessons are intended for beginners and advanced beginners. My style and order of approach will vary based on your experience and personal tastes, but the general outline is as follows:

1: Fundamental terms and theory. Introduction to 4 basic chords
2: Introduction to basic strumming patterns, more chords, and warm-up exercises
3. Advanced chords (dominant seventh, major seventh)
4: Bar chords and power chords, and the theory behind them
5. Basic lead guitar techniques, how to read guitar tabs, and learning easy, classic riffs
6. Introduction to improvisation (soloing using pentatonic and blues scale) and 12 bar blues
7. Reviewing chords, more lead guitar techniques, basic lead licks, and putting it all together

My goal is to help you achieve these essential pillars of guitar playing by weaving in personal lessons of your own favourite songs. Just tell me what you like! I love being introduced to new music through my students.

Because I record music, I have a studio quality mic and headsets. This will help us communicate better.
