About Jennifer

Hi, I’m a qualified and experienced chemistry teacher with a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, as well as industry experience. I’m passionate about helping students not only achieve strong results, but also build real confidence in their understanding of chemistry.

Alongside my academic background, I have experience as a Head of Chemistry, where I led the department and supported students and teachers to achieve high standards. I have taught across a range of levels, including GCSE and A-level, and have helped many students improve their grades and reach their full potential.

My background in both education and industry allows me to bring chemistry to life, linking key concepts to real-world applications and making lessons more engaging and meaningful.

I pride myself on being patient, supportive, and approachable. I understand that chemistry can feel challenging at times, so I focus on creating a calm and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making progress at their own pace.

As a professional, I am reliable, well-organised, and committed to delivering high-quality, personalised lessons. I take the time to understand each student’s goals and tailor my teaching to help them succeed—whether that’s building confidence, catching up on content, or aiming for top grades.

About the lesson

I aim to make my lessons relaxed, supportive, and tailored to each individual student. I know that chemistry can sometimes feel overwhelming, so I focus on breaking things down into clear, manageable steps and explaining concepts in a way that really makes sense.

I always adapt my approach depending on how each student learns best, whether that’s through visual explanations, worked examples, or simply talking things through.

In a typical lesson, I like to start by checking what the student already knows and where they might be feeling unsure. From there, we work through key ideas together before practising questions to build confidence. I also place a strong focus on exam technique, helping students understand how to approach different types of questions and avoid common mistakes.

I encourage questions at any point and aim to create a space where students feel comfortable asking for help without any pressure. I’ll also give helpful feedback and, if needed, suggest ways to practise or revise between lessons.

Lessons usually last around 60 minutes, but I’m happy to offer longer sessions if a student would benefit from more time, especially in the lead-up to exams.

I’m an experienced and qualified chemistry teacher, and I’ve helped many students achieve strong results at both GCSE and A-level. My classroom experience means I understand the curriculum well, as well as the common challenges students face and how to support them effectively.

My lessons are ideal for secondary school students, including those studying for GCSEs or A-levels, but I’m also happy to work with adult learners or anyone looking to build their confidence in chemistry.
