About Justin
I'm an experienced secondary school History teacher and currently Head of History at a school in East Sussex. I've taught students across a wide range of ages and abilities, helping them develop their historical knowledge, confidence and examination skills.
Since 2019, I've also worked as an examiner for Edexcel A Level History. This gives me a valuable insight into how examination answers are assessed, what makes a successful response and where students commonly lose marks.
Throughout my teaching career, I've supported students preparing for GCSE and A Level examinations, as well as mentoring and coaching trainee teachers. I understand that every student learns differently, and I believe that building confidence is just as important as developing subject knowledge.
My teaching style is friendly, patient and structured. I use clear explanations, questioning and practical examples to make complex historical ideas accessible, while encouraging students to think critically and develop their own arguments.
History is a subject I'm passionate about, and I enjoy helping young people discover that it is much more than learning facts and dates. Above all, I want students to enjoy the subject, believe in their abilities and develop the skills they need to succeed.

I believe that successful History tuition is about more than remembering dates and events. It is about developing the knowledge, understanding and confidence to explain why things happened and communicate ideas clearly.
As an experienced History teacher, currently working as a Head of History, and an Edexcel A Level History examiner since 2019, I understand both how students learn and what examiners are looking for.
My lessons are tailored to each student's needs. I begin by identifying their strengths and the areas where they need support, then use clear explanations, worked examples, questioning and targeted practice to develop their understanding.
I place particular emphasis on examination technique, essay structure, source analysis and historical interpretations. Students receive constructive feedback and practical guidance on how to improve their answers and achieve higher marks.
Lessons typically last 60 minutes and are available online or face to face.
I offer tuition to GCSE and A Level History students, whether they are looking to build confidence, strengthen their subject knowledge, prepare for examinations or work towards higher grades.
My approach is supportive, structured and challenging, with lessons designed to help students become more confident and independent historians.
