About Corina

I am an experienced math educator with a degree in Electrical Engineering and many years of experience helping students strengthen their skills, confidence, and independence in mathematics.

I previously owned and operated two Kumon Math and Reading Centres, where I worked closely with students of different ages, abilities, and learning styles.

My teaching style is patient, structured, and highly individualized. I focus on helping students understand the reasoning behind the math, identify and close learning gaps, and develop strong problem-solving habits.

One of the most rewarding parts of teaching for me is seeing a student go from feeling unsure or discouraged to saying, “I can do this.”

My goal is not only to improve math performance, but to help each student become a confident, capable, and independent learner.

About the lesson

My teaching approach is structured, patient, and personalized. I focus on helping students understand the reasoning behind the math, not just memorize procedures. I also pay close attention to where gaps may exist, because difficulties with a current topic are often connected to an earlier concept that was never fully understood.

A typical lesson begins with a short review to reinforce previous learning. I then introduce or revisit one key concept using clear explanations and worked examples. We solve problems together before the student moves into independent practice. I also include word problems, problem-solving strategies, and error analysis so students learn how to approach unfamiliar questions with more confidence.

I adapt each lesson to the student’s grade, pace, and learning needs. Depending on the student, we may work on arithmetic, fractions, decimals, percentages, geometry, algebra, graphing, or other school topics.

My goal is not simply to help students finish their homework. I want them to build strong foundations, understand what they are doing, recognize and correct their mistakes, and gradually become more confident and independent in math.
