About Vanz
Hello! I'm Evan Elizan, a Communications Engineer, Mathematics Instructor, and telecommunications professional with over 30 years of industry experience and a passion for teaching mathematics.
My career has been built on solving complex technical problems, optimizing communication networks, and leading engineering operations across major telecommunications companies. Alongside my engineering career, I discovered a deep passion for teaching and have been serving as a part-time Mathematics Instructor at Cebu Technological University since 2023.
I teach college-level mathematics courses including Algebra, Analytic Geometry, Calculus, Solid Mensuration, Advanced Mathematics, and Differential Equations. My goal is to help students understand mathematical concepts—not just memorize formulas—by breaking down difficult topics into simple, logical, and practical steps. I encourage critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and confidence in problem-solving.
My strong foundation in mathematics began early in my academic journey. I graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Communications Engineering and was honored as Mathematician of the Year in 1994. These achievements continue to inspire my commitment to academic excellence and lifelong learning.
Outside the classroom, I continue to work as a Network Operations Center (NOC) Consultant, bringing real-world engineering experience into my teaching. This combination of academic instruction and industry expertise allows me to connect mathematical theories with practical engineering applications, giving students a deeper appreciation of how mathematics is used in real life.

My teaching style is student-centered and interactive. I begin by assessing the student's current understanding and identifying areas that need improvement. I then explain concepts using simple language, real-life examples, and visual aids whenever appropriate. I encourage students to ask questions and solve problems independently with guidance, helping them develop critical thinking rather than simply memorizing formulas.
I also provide regular practice exercises, review mistakes carefully, and adjust my teaching pace based on each student's learning style.

A brief review of previous topics and homework.
Introduction of a new concept with clear explanations and examples.
Guided practice where we solve problems together.
