About Sanjana
Hello! I’m Sanjana, an experienced English educator originally from India and currently based in Montreal. I recently relocated from Indonesia, where I spent several years teaching in the IB Middle Years and Diploma Programs.
With over a decade of experience supporting students in English language and literature, I am passionate about helping both young people and adults become clearer, more confident communicators. I believe every learner thrives when they feel supported, challenged, and genuinely cared for.
I bring high expectations paired with patience and encouragement. My goal is not only strong academic results, but also the lasting confidence that comes from expressing yourself well. Whether you are preparing for IB assessments, strengthening academic or professional English, or simply wanting to feel more at ease when speaking and writing, I would be glad to support you.

I believe language learning works best when students feel safe to experiment, make mistakes, and gradually take ownership of their progress. My teaching is student-centred and interactive. I focus on building both skill and confidence together.
I combine guided practice, independent work, and regular constructive feedback. Lessons revolve around clear goals and give students plenty of chance to speak, write, listen, and read. I break skills into manageable steps, model strategies, and then step back so students can apply them. In literature, we move from close reading and identifying techniques to deeper analysis, discussion, and clear written responses. I also draw on IB inquiry approaches, encouraging questions, connections, and critical thinking.
A typical lesson starts with a short warm-up, moves into focused modelling and guided practice, then gives students time to apply what they’ve learned. We finish with feedback, reflection, and a clear next step. Lessons stay flexible so I can adjust to each student’s needs and energy that day.
With over a decade of experience in the IB Middle Years and Diploma Programmes (English B, Language & Literature, and related subjects), I understand both the academic demands and the emotional side of language learning. I pay close attention to each student’s strengths and goals, creating a supportive space where they feel motivated rather than judged. My aim is not only strong results, but helping students become clearer, more confident communicators for the long term.
My lessons are suitable for secondary and pre-university students (especially IB MYP/DP English B or Language & Literature, IGCSE, and similar programmes), as well as adults who want to strengthen their English for work, studies, or everyday communication. I support language skills, literature analysis, academic writing, speaking confidence, professional communication, and exam preparation, and I tailor lessons from foundational fluency to higher-level critical and analytical work.
