About Kiana
I am a dedicated and passionate native French tutor with over 7 years of experience helping students of all ages and backgrounds achieve their language learning goals. Alongside my work as a tutor, I have built a professional career in publishing, a field that perfectly aligns with my love of books, language and communication. I hold a degree in Creative Writing and English, as well as a Master’s in Publishing.
My love of languages extends beyond French; I speak German, Italian and English, and having learned these languages myself, I understand the challenges that come with mastering a new language. This personal experience informs my teaching style and helps me guide my students with empathy and effective strategies. I pride myself on creating a welcoming and engaging learning environment where students feel confident to practice and make progress.

My approach to tutoring French is immersive, interactive and highly tailored to each student's needs. I believe the most effective way to learn a language is by being fully engaged in activities that mirror real-world usage, which is why my methodology emphasises conversational practice and active challenges. My goal is to recreate the environment in which I personally mastered additional languages, focusing on speaking confidently and naturally.
Teaching Techniques & Methodology:
I use a conversational approach as the foundation of my lessons, encouraging my students to actively use French through discussions, role-plays and practical dialogues. This method builds both comprehension and fluency, helping students overcome hesitation and gain confidence. I supplement speaking practice with carefully selected reading and writing homework assignments that reinforce vocabulary and grammar. Additionally, I engage my students with activities that immerse them in the French language and culture, like listening to French music, watching French films or reading books and articles in French.
To challenge my students, I regularly introduce real-life scenarios and problem-solving tasks in French, which makes the learning experience dynamic and engaging. For younger learners, like toddlers, I incorporate play-based learning and work closely with parents to support their development. For GCSE students, I tailor lessons to match the curriculum, focusing on exam preparation and academic success. For business professionals, I customise lessons to fit industry-specific needs and objectives.

I am a native French speaker with over 7 years of experience as a freelance French tutor. Throughout my teaching career, I have worked with a diverse range of learners, from toddlers in nurseries, where I collaborated with parents and educators to create a nurturing and stimulating environment, to teenagers preparing for exams and even adults learning French for personal or professional reasons.
