About John Paul

Hi. I’m John, an online English teacher from the Philippines.

Having studied my bachelor’s degree in accounting at one of the top universities here, I worked in an office for more than 7 years doing finance and budget matters.

I started my online teaching career in 2018 as a part time tutor through a Shanghai based app where I helped Chinese professionals and students practice their English-speaking skills.

Earlier this year after seeing the flexibility of telecommuting, I decided to leave my 8-5 job to make teaching my full-time career as it’s also my real passion.

As someone who also struggled with English fluency, I wanted to help others get better in this global language through non-traditional approaches.

My expertise is with pronunciation and accent reduction in order for learners to have a more neutral sounding English when speaking.

In my spare time, I like to listen to good music like operatic-pop and country. And yes, I can carry some tunes. I think singing is one of the most wonderful things to do. At the moment, I’m also learning ukulele.

I’m a learner focused teacher and I adapt my teaching methodologies based on the student’s needs. As your guide, I will help you get better in English so you can sound more professional and respected by your peers in whatever social situation you might find yourself in. About my English Training Program

My lessons are focused on accent reduction, as well as listening and speaking exercises with less emphasis on grammar designed for Intermediate to Advanced learners of English. It's meant to help you be more fluent and sound more neutral when speaking.

My Teaching Style:

I'm a learner-focused teacher and I adapt my teaching based on my client's needs. I emphasize on providing question and answer type of discussion to prompt the learner to use correct grammar without conscious effort.
