About Erika

I am an outgoing, and caring individual with a passion for working with young people. I believe deeply that all children are capable if given the right opportunities and support to learn. I am also a trained Children's Yoga and Mindfulness Teacher and therefore kindness, empathy, respect, and compassion underpin all that I do.

About the lesson

I am a passionate Primary Teacher with Qualified Teacher Status and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education. As a Canadian National with experience teaching in Britain, I bring an appreciation for both diversity and inclusivity. My experience in both countries has led me to become an adaptable and flexible practitioner; able to communicate with patience, respect, and kindness. I greatly value the relationships made within a classroom and believe that these underpin all success. I have experience teaching whole class, small groups, and one on one. I've taught within classrooms and in tutoring settings both in person, and online.
My lessons are engaging with clear objectives. I specialise in working with students with additional needs and have experience working with ADHD, ASD, ODD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia, as well as those suffering with poor mental health. Therefore, lessons are tailed specifically for the student; they often involve movement and games to access the curriculum in different ways. Progress is tracked and communicated. The length of lessons are determined by age, stage, and needs of the pupil.
Primary maths lessons focus on solidifying the necessary basics for the primary curriculum, before extending. These basics underpin all maths concepts moving beyond primary and are therefore so very important to make concrete.
