About Alice

Hello! My name is Alice, and I am an experienced primary school teacher with a strong passion for helping children become confident, independent and enthusiastic learners.

I have experience teaching children across a range of primary year groups, including younger learners, and have taught Junior Infants, Senior Infants, Second Class as part of my teaching experience in Ireland. I studied and taught the Irish Primary School Curriculum, which shares many similarities with the British Primary Curriculum. I also currently teach within an American Curriculum school in Abu Dhabi, giving me experience working across different international curricula.

I have extensive experience supporting children who are learning English as an additional language (EAL), with a particular focus on developingphonics, reading, writing, spelling, vocabulary and comprehension.

For younger learners, I use regular phonics practice to develop accurate blending and decoding skills, helping children become more confident readers. I also focus on handwriting, sentence construction, spelling and early writing skills, gradually building children's independence and confidence.

For older primary students, I can provide support with reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, writing, spelling and primary mathematics, while helping children develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed in school.

My lessons are friendly, engaging and tailored to each child's individual need. I believe children learn best when they feel comfortable, encouraged and successful, so I aim to make lessons interactive while still maintaining clear learning goals.

I am familiar with both Irish/ British and American primary expectations and can adapt lessons to complement what your child is learning at school.

Whether your child needs support with phonics and early reading, wants to strengthen their writing and comprehension, or would benefit from additional primary maths practice, I would be happy to create personalised lessons based on their current ability and areas for development.

I am based in Abu Dhabi and can offer online tutoring as well as in-person lessons, subject to location and availability.

About the lesson

My lessons are personalised, engaging and designed around each child's individual needs, ability and learning goals. As an experienced primary school teacher, I understand that children learn best when they feel comfortable, encouraged and successful.

I offer support in English, phonics, reading, writing, spelling, grammar, vocabulary and comprehension, as well as primary mathematics. I have particular experience supporting EAL learners and children who need additional confidence with English.

For younger children, lessons may include phonics practice, blending and decoding, reading fluency, vocabulary development, handwriting and sentence construction. For older primary students, I can focus on reading comprehension, grammar, writing structure, spelling, vocabulary and developing more independent writing skills.

I am familiar with the British/Irish and American primary curricula and can tailor lessons to complement what your child is currently learning at school.

Lessons are interactive and varied, using a combination of discussion, questioning, reading activities, games, written tasks and targeted practice. I will begin by getting to know your child and identifying their strengths and areas for development, allowing me to create lessons that are both supportive and appropriately challenging.

My aim is not only to improve academic skills, but also to help children develop confidence, independence and a positive attitude towards learning.

Lessons can be offered online or in person in Abu Dhabi, depending on location and availability.
