About Brett

I am a TESL/TEFL/TESOL instructor with many years experience, including 5 years teaching overseas in China. I am an award-winning instructor, and a native English speaker from Canada. I am TEFL certified, I have a Canadian teaching licence, I have taken CELPIP instructor training, I am trained in teaching CAEL & IELTS test preparation, trained in Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB), and Portfolio Based Language Assessment (PBLA) for Classroom Instructors. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Alberta, plus 2 other college diplomas, and have many professional development/ continuing education certificates, such as: sociolinguistics, applied linguistics, teaching pronunciation, speech therapy/speech pathology, phonetics & phonology, and Career & Education Guidance. I am familiar with many cultures and languages, and have taught students from all over the world. I teach ELLs of all kinds, and with a variety of goals, such as ESL/EFL/EAL/ESP, Academic English, business English, and public speaking. I also handle accent addition/refinement & dialect/pronunciation coaching.

About the lesson

My lessons are tailored to the individual, and their goals. They are student-centred, goal-orientated, practical, and apply directly to your needs and desired outcome.

My lessons are interactive, fun, and targeted!

I also use drama and acting techniques in some of my teaching, due to my background in performance. I have taught TESOL drama, and Acting in English.
