About Laura
I am a high-energy teacher who builds strong rapport with every student, believing learning thrives in a supportive community, whether whole class or 1:1. With over 15 years of teaching experience and entering my fourth year as a reading teacher, I am passionate about making reading fun and exciting. I love watching students grow—seeing their faces light up as they read their first word, sentence, paragraph, and eventually their first book is truly incredible and fuels my dedication to teaching.

I use the science of reading to strengthen phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. With K-4 expertise, I balance engaging lessons with structured routines. Each session includes: Phonemic Awareness (blending/segmenting sounds), Visual Drill (grapheme-phoneme review), Auditory Drill (writing heard sounds), Blending Drill (decoding words), New Concept (introducing and practicing a phonics skill), Word Work (manipulating spelling patterns), Irregular Word Review (high-frequency words), and Connected Text (applying skills in reading). I believe strong reading skills are the foundation of all learning.
