About Matthew

Hello! My name is Matthew Yusuff, and I am a Mathematics and Science tutor with a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degree in Human Physiology. I am also a Teach For Nigeria Fellow, where I work with young learners to improve academic achievement and develop confidence in their abilities.
My passion for teaching comes from a desire to help children discover that learning can be enjoyable and rewarding. I understand that many students find Mathematics and Science challenging, so I strive to make complex concepts simple, engaging, and easy to understand. There is nothing more fulfilling to me than seeing a student move from confusion to confidence and begin to enjoy a subject they once found difficult.
As an educator, I believe every child has the potential to succeed when given the right guidance, encouragement, and learning environment. My goal is not only to help students achieve excellent results in school but also to develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a lifelong love for learning.
I teach Mathematics and Science to Year 3–7 learners through interactive online lessons that are tailored to each student's needs and learning pace. Whether a student needs support with foundational concepts, homework, exam preparation, or confidence building, I am committed to helping them reach their full potential.

About the lesson

I believe that every child can succeed in Science and Mathematics when lessons are tailored to their individual learning style. My teaching approach focuses on building confidence, strengthening foundational knowledge and making learning enjoyable through clear explanations, guided practice and real-life examples.
I begin by assessing each student's current understanding, strengths, and areas for improvement. From there, I create personalised lessons that help learners progress at a comfortable pace while gradually introducing more challenging concepts. I encourage students to ask questions freely and develop independent problem-solving skills.
My lessons are interactive and engaging, combining explanations, worked examples, quizzes, and practice exercises to ensure lasting understanding. Regular feedback is provided so that both students and parents can monitor progress.
I hold a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degree in Human Physiology and currently serve as a Teach For Nigeria Fellow, where I teach and support learners in achieving academic success. My experience working with children from different backgrounds has helped me develop patience, adaptability, and effective teaching strategies.
Lessons are available online for Year 3 to Year 7 students studying Mathematics and Science, including learners following the UK National Curriculum. Typical lessons last 60 minutes, although longer sessions can be arranged where required.
