About Gill
Hello! I’m an experienced, fully qualified Scottish primary teacher and school leader with extensive experience supporting children across the primary stages. I believe tutoring works best when children feel relaxed, successful and understood. My sessions are friendly, encouraging and tailored to the individual child, helping them build both their skills and their confidence. I can support children working within Curriculum for Excellence (CfE) from Early through to Second Level, including: • Literacy and English • Reading and comprehension • Phonics and early reading • Spelling • Writing • Numeracy and Mathematics • Homework support • Closing gaps in learning • Building confidence and independence I have particular experience in early literacy, phonics, assessment and identifying children’s next steps in learning.

I adapt each session to the age, needs and interests of the child rather than following a one-size-fits-all programme. For younger learners, sessions are active, engaging and broken into manageable chunks. For older primary pupils, I can provide more focused support with specific areas of difficulty while helping children understand how to approach their learning independently. Parents are welcome to tell me about particular areas they would like us to work on, and I can provide brief feedback about progress and suggested next steps. Who I Can Support P1–P3: phonics, early reading, spelling, writing, number skills and confidence. P4–P7: reading comprehension, writing, spelling, numeracy, problem solving, homework and targeted support with gaps in learning. My aim is simple: to help children experience success, grow in confidence and make progress at a pace that is right for them.
