About Lynette

I have a first class English degree in English Language & Literature, and I completed my PGCE at the Institute of Education (UCL)- consistently seen as the best place for teacher education in the world!
Learning is a lifelong journey, and I constantly endeavour to improve my own knowledge and pedagogical skills in order to help you.

About the lesson

I tailor my tutoring to each learner, recognising that every student brings their own strengths, challenges, and ways of growing. My school pupils often tell me that I help them find their voice — even in a class of 30 — and that I balance kindness with the right amount of challenge. I’m known for pushing students beyond their comfort zone in a supportive way, helping them become stronger, more independent readers and writers-- and develop their own critical and conceptual thinking along the way.

Last year, 75% of my mixed‑ability Year 11 class achieved grades 7–9 in their GCSE English exams, and 100% of both my classroom students and tutees gained good passes in both English GCSEs. I typically teach KS3 and KS4 (AQA), as well as A‑level English Language, and I also have experience preparing Year 5 and 6 pupils for the transition to secondary school and for the 11+.
