About Sandipan

Hello, my name is Sandipan. I am an experienced Mathematics teacher of 6 years, and about to enter my 7th year of teaching. I have worked at many different schools, primarily in inner London areas with higher levels of deprivation than other parts of London. I have developed my practice to a high level and strived to improve year after year, which is why I have climbed to a leadership role. As well as being a classroom A level teacher, I am also the Maths Lead of a special project in Tottenham, which aims to improve outcomes for students in the local area and ensure these students are able to achieve to their fullest potential. I work across 10 different primary and secondary schools, with children aged 8 to 16, and 16 to 18 year olds at my sixth form. Consequently, I have a good understanding of the learning and mathematics journey that children take from primary school all the way to A level (and beyond), and this puts me in a unique spot as a tutor. I am confident of being able to support your child achieve their realistic goals and targets, and I look forward to hearing from you. If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to get in touch. My timings are only somewhat flexible during term-time (around evenings and weekends) - so please let me know via message what times you can do and we will arrange accordingly. About the lesson

My lessons are always based on the student's needs first and foremost. I always ask and seek to find out what they need support with first, and work from there. Lessons will consist of some instructional teaching, with lots of practice around my teaching. Students will be asked to answer questions at different levels to ensure they can access the content, then be able to apply their knowledge and skills to other questions from the same topic, and finishing off with some challenge questions to extend their thinking and ensuring they can step up to the next level. Exam practice is regularly built in to ensure students are well-prepared for exams and exam-style questioning. Last academic year I tutored two students: student A went from a grade 4 to a grade 6 in his GCSEs, whilst the other climbed from grade 7 to a high grade 9, and is now confidently studying maths and further maths for A level. Previous students have progressed well with my tutoring, including an A level student who went to UCL to study engineering. As a classroom teacher, I have also had success year after year, especially in some very difficult schools, which is why I am very adaptable as a teacher and tutor, and as previously mentioned, I will tailor the sessions to the needs of you/your child.
