About Giovanna

Olá! I’m a passionate Portuguese learner and tutor with a love for languages, people, culture, nature, and art.

I studied Portuguese for three years, and my love for the language led me to spend a year living in Lisbon, where I was able to immerse myself in Portuguese culture and everyday life. This experience gave me a deeper appreciation for European Portuguese and the way the language is naturally spoken and used in Portugal.

Outside of languages, I love cooking and baking, discovering new places, spending time in nature, and exploring art and different cultures. I enjoy bringing these interests into my lessons whenever possible, because I believe that learning a language is much more meaningful when it connects to the things we genuinely enjoy.

My goal is to create a friendly, relaxed, and encouraging environment where you can build your confidence, make mistakes without fear, and enjoy learning Portuguese along the way.

About the lesson

Portuguese lessons for beginners to B2 level

Whether you're starting from zero, improving your conversation skills, preparing for a trip, or looking to become more confident in Portuguese, I offer personalized lessons adapted to your level, goals, and interests.

My Teaching Method & Techniques:

My lessons focus on practical, communicative Portuguese. Rather than simply memorizing grammar rules, you'll have plenty of opportunities to use the language in realistic situations.

Lessons can include:

Conversation and pronunciation practice
Vocabulary and useful everyday expressions
Grammar explained clearly and in context
Listening and comprehension activities
Role-plays and real-life situations
Exercises tailored to your individual needs
Portuguese culture and everyday life

I primarily teach European Portuguese (Português de Portugal), while I can also help students who are interested in or studying Brazilian Portuguese, including the differences between the two varieties.

What Does a Typical Lesson Look Like?

Each lesson is adapted to you, but a typical class might include:

Warm-up & conversation → New vocabulary or grammar → Guided practice → Speaking/listening activity → Feedback & corrections

The goal is to make every lesson interactive and useful, while gradually building your confidence in speaking, understanding, reading, and writing Portuguese.

What Sets Me Apart?

I believe that learning a language should be personal, practical, and enjoyable. I adapt my lessons to each student's learning style and goals, creating a relaxed environment where you can make mistakes, ask questions, and improve without pressure.

My particular focus on European Portuguese makes the lessons especially useful for anyone planning to live, study, work, travel, or communicate with people in Portugal. I can also help you understand the differences between European and Brazilian Portuguese.
