About Bernard

I really value and get moved by breakthroughs that actors make. Actors at times we feel stuck when doing the work. It's always great to help an actor have a realization about the work they're doing or approach the material in a different way. It also reminds me that there isn't just one singular way to approach acting!

As a working actor, I recognize the importance of continuing to learn and improving upon the craft. I enjoy being able to inspire and teach other actors that not only can they succeed but they can always learn new things to improve upon their skillsets!

I attended the Professional Performing Arts School in NYC for highschool as musical theatre major and graduated in 2016.

During my time in highschool, I was apart of non-profit called Broadway For All, where I trained with countless industry professionals and really honed in on the importance of diversity, inclusivity and representation. I still continue to do work for them. I also took on mentoring and would teach/ assist young artist how to further develop their craft.

Shortly after, I attend Marymount Manhattan for a year, doing their BFA Acting program. I then went on to SUNY Purchase and joined their Theatre and Performance Program and I graduated recently in May 2020.

In the time that i spent learning the craft, I was fortunate enough able to pick up agents and managers. I've also done various off-broadway/ NYC theatre productions such as Once on this Island, Trifles, Let Me Come In (Musical revue), Ragtime, What to Send Up When It Goes Down and I was a featured role on The Rundown With Robin Thede on BET in a parody skit of Stranger Things called, "Racist Things".

About the lesson

I usually begin with physical/ vocal warm-ups that will help the student prepare themselves to dive into the work.

I'll then move on to break down some of the beginner concepts of acting work and make the student is familar with acting terms such as actions, objectives, beats, etc.

Then I'll procceed to work on monolgue and scene work. I also will be talking about some of the difference between acting on stage and acting on camera. I will also provide tips on how to use platforms like zoom in acting work.
