About Stephanie

I am a graduate student in chemistry at the University of Texas. I have 5 semesters of experience being a TA (teaching assistant / tutor / helper) for general chemistry. I think I have found helpful ways to explain common topics and I am comfortable working through math problems together, which I think is a very common challenge for chemistry students!

I have been in chemistry for over 10 years! I would love to try to share my understanding with others and help others through their challenges!

My first teaching experience was as a TA for college courses in general chemistry. I now have completed 5 semesters of general chemistry (lab and lecture).

I took AP Chemistry in high school. I have a BS in Chemistry from Texas A&M University (undergrad). I worked as an analytical chemist for several years at a small company. Now, I am a graduate student at the University of Texas in Chemistry (PhD). I have been a TA (teacher's assistant) for general chemistry for five semesters. I have done recurring office hours, small-group sessions, one-on-one sessions, grading, and preparation for course content. I used to do in-person tutoring, but have recent experience with online tutoring thanks to COVID!

About the lesson

For a new student, I think it's important to first understand what their challenges and expectations are, then formulate a game plan to properly assist the student. For students looking for a quick answer to a single question, I can offer a quick response. For students interested in recurring sessions, I can offer more in-depth explanations. For students interested in working through practice problems together, I can help assist with where they might be going wrong.

I have mostly worked with college students, but am open to working with high school students, especially for AP chemistry.
