About Dilan
As a child of Deaf adults (CODA) I am happy to share knowledge about the Deaf culture and ASL. I highly recommend learning from a Deaf person. I understand this is not always feasible but I encourage it before you seek learning here, from a hearing person. I have had the privilege of working under a Deaf Professor, during my undergrad at the University of Texas at Austin to teach hearing students about Deaf culture and multiple signing techniques, with the primary focus on American Sign Language.
Undergraduate Research under the supervision of a Deaf ASL Professor with language acquisition and teaching second year ASL students.

I will recommend a couple of specific books, websites, and require you to learn the alphabet as your first lesson.
Hearing students with little or no exposure to Deaf culture or language.
Please seek out a Deaf teacher to learn about Deaf culture and ASL before you come here. Please keep seeking after you arrive here. My feelings will not be hurt once you upgrade to a Deaf teacher during our lessons.
