About Justin

I would like to assist both high school students and college students in subjects such as history, biology, and psychology. I am interested in the aforementioned subjects and since I am a current Graduate student, I would like to share my knowledge in both psychology and counselling with students who would like to have a better understanding of the topics that are discussed in their courses. For history, I would like to teach students about the Civil War, French and Indian War, the Holocaust, civilizations such as the Aztecs and Greeks, and figures such as Francisco Pizzaro, Abraham Lincoln, Benito Mussolini, Mao Zedong, Nelson Mandela, and Juan Ponce De Leon. For biology, I would like to help students learn about mitosis, organs, functions of the brain, cell structure, photosynthesis, cellular respiration, and ecosystems. For psychology, I would like to help students learn about figures such as Sigmund Freud, Abraham Maslow, Anna Freud, Albert Bandura, and Erik Erikson, concepts such as psychosocial development, psychosexual development, hierarchy of needs, and long-term memory. I would also like to teach students how to diagnose and treat disorders such as histrionic personality disorder, schizophrenia, anxiety, depression, anorexia nervosa, and epilepsy. Further, I have taken both undergraduate and graduate courses relevant to Social Psychology, Research Methods, Human Sexuality, Cognition, Neuropsychology, Abnormal Psychology, Psychophysiology, Personality and Social Development, Psychology of Women, and Bio Basis of Behaviour. While pursuing my Master's in Psychology at Lynn University, I had an internship at a mental rehabilitation center in Delray Beach called Proactive Recovery Center. There, I observed clients who were affected by substance use disorder in both individual and group sessions. I observed how the therapists were able to use interventions such as Motivational Interviewing to help the clients manage their substance use disorder and any comorbidities such as depression. I participated and facilitated a group to gain a better understanding of the causes and effects of the clients' substance use disorder and how they apply techniques to increase their self-esteem. I encouraged clients to realize that they can pursue an education and career and serve as role models to their children as a way to realize that they can become sober and contributing members of society. I am an aftercare counsellor and I encourage the children to socialize, develop common interests, and motivated them to own up to mistakes and resolve their differences. I have told students that bullying is not tolerated under any circumstances and I told them that they should always treat each other respectfully. I serve as a role model for the children and I informed them that they can always come to me when they are facing an issue and I would help them solve it so they can enjoy being in aftercare.

About the lesson

When I match with a student, I would like the student to reach out to me with a question or concern if they are struggling with homework. I would like to use clues, tips, strategies, and past concepts that they learned in the classroom to help them reach the answer to a question.
