About Cheryl

11 year experience science teacher passionate about helping you the student understand. I have taught integrated science grade7-8, High School Biology, A.P. Environmental science and health. I have a Bachelors in Biology, and Wildlife Management, minor in Soil Science and a second Bachelors in Education Integrated science a minor in chemistry. In addition to middle and high school I have taught environmental Science and Wildlife habitat as an adjunct at our local college.

I enjoy helping people understand the world around them. I enjoy both teaching and learning.

I fell in love with teaching when I was substitute teaching when my children were young. Both of my children (now adults working on their bachelors and doctorate degrees) had health issues that required a more flexible position than the Wildlife biologist research position i held during that time. Through substitute teaching I found an ability to relate to, and help people understand, not just content, but how to learn.

I have been pursuing my Master Degree in Education concentrating on science curriculum and special education. Due to finances I still have a year left.

I have 8 years experience as a wildlife biology researcher and 11 years experience in education grades 3-12 and 4 years experience teaching at a local community college as an adjunct.

I have also taught on-line classes for remedial high school course work and for college courses.

About the lesson

I like to get to know the students needs and strengths. Finding your interests can help me determine strategies to help you learn.

A variety of ages and skill levels.

Autistic, dyslexic, general ed. hearing impaired, I have an all inclusive classroom with multiple individual learning goals.

Ask questions. Be specific in your needs and expectations.

Students were struggling with the process of mitosis. we grew garlic roots and they prepared slides and were able to compare the different stages of mitosis.
