About Jonathan

I am a graduate student at the University of Texas at Dallas studying to earn a Masters degree in Biotechnology!

-Honors Graduate from the University of North Texas where I earned a degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry.

-Six years of experience as an informal educator at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science Biology Lab.

-Four years experience as a scientist at Abbott Laboratories where I worked on assays that help detect diseases in the blood bank

-Former Regional President for Phi Theta Kappa, international honor society

** Biology is my favorite subject! Learning about the "Life Sciences" is fun because it encourages young thinkers to ask bigger questions about the world around them. So much of our world, from the food we eat to the medicines that we take, depends on application of fundamental biological knowlege. The mysteries of life are hidden in our DNA and it's my goal to inspire people to take a look closer at life! **

- 6 years of informal educator experience at The Perot Museum of Nature and Science

- 4 years of industry experience

- Currently a grad student so my "Finger is on the pulse" of the latest news regarding biological science.

About the lesson

1) Meet the new student and learn about the class that he or she is taking. Together we might review the syllabus and talk about which subjects we will focus on.

2) I will communicate with the student's teachers and parents to ensure that all of our academic goals align. I'll make a tutoring schedule based on the timing of tests and student availability.

3) We will work on core concepts at every meeting through a variety of methods including: One-on-one article or book reviews, applicable learning materials found on YouTube, practice tests, homework review, and quizes. Emphasis will be placed on studying for tests to ensure good grades.

4) For students who really love biology, I will offer some career advise and teach about different industries that Biologists work in. I can also help with the college search and application process.
