About Victoria

As a tutor, I adapt my strategies to a student's learning style. I have a year of experience tutoring college students in environmental science, biology, oceanography, and environmental chemistry classes.

I have always had a passion for science education, earning my degree in coastal environmental science and biology and completing internships in environmental education. Science is crucial for people to understand and I love knowing I help people understand it even just a bit better, whether they're 5 or 50.

I started teaching when I volunteered at Legacy Elementary School in high school, assisting students who were struggling with course content, especially in science and math classes.

I have a bachelor of science in coastal environmental science with a minor in biology. While in college, I volunteered at my local state park in their natural resources and education department, as well as interned in the education department for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. My last semester of college, I worked as a tutor at the learning resource center to assist students with science topics.

About the lesson

My first session, I will discuss with a student where they are struggling and where they are succeeding. This helps me understand how I can better assist them. I will also ask if they would class themselves as a visual, auditory, or tactile learner so I can adapt my sessions to best fit their needs.

I have worked with a wide range of students, I ckuding elementary schoolers, high school students, and college undergraduate students.

I would tell a student to look for a teacher with experience in both science and education as they can teach from their own experiences as well as understand how to best help the student.

At work, I had the opportunity to educate a group of guests about rough-toothed dolphins, explaining conservation efforts to protect them.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should think about what they need, such as if they need help understanding how a specific topic fits into the course or just need something reexplained.
