About David
As a physician scientist in training, I am passionate about discovering the secrets of the natural world and sharing that passion and knowledge with my students. Additionally, I make a great effort to personalize my lessons to my students' own learning styles. I am flexible and willing to meet them and their goals where they are!
Feeling that "spark" of understanding has kept me excited about learning for my entire life. Sharing that spark as a tutor for over 10 years gives me an excuse to babble on about topics that excite me and gives me the chance to dispell rumors about STEM being unapproachable or dull.
Teaching runs in my family! My mother has been a teacher for over 40 years, and I quickly followed suit as a high school peer tutor. Since then, I've tutored both freelance and through tutoring agencies in college and beyond!
I have an AB in Molecular Biology (Princeton, 2017). I am currently training as an MD-PhD specializing in neuroscience (Georgetown).

I like to begin with a short interview to understand my client's goals, incoming knowledge, and learning style. I adjust my teaching methods to suit each student's needs and personality. From there, I am open to continual feedback to ensure my student is satisfied and learning at pace.
I have worked with a wide range of clientelle, ranging from middle school students to pre-professional students, although a majority of my students have been high schoolers. Subjectwise, I have helped students master AP Chemistry, AP Biology, Organic Chemistry, Cellular and Developmental Biology, Introductory Neuroscience, Laboratory Techniques, Geometry, and a variety of standardized tests (SAT, SAT Subject Tests, ACT, MCAT).
The "fit" needs to be just right. Make sure your tutor is someone you could confidently say, "Wait. That doesn't make any sense." Open communication is key, and without it, you're just hiring a second teacher to frustrate you!
I had the privelege of watching the Oxford Cambridge Boat Race (virtually) this past April. Rowing is a sport near and dear to my heart, having participated and coached in the sport for over 10 years now. This was a particularly special running of The Race, as it was the return to the normal Thames River course and included several of my former teammates!
