About Bernadette

I am currently a human biology major at Hunter College I would love to share my love for science and math with students who would like help. I tutor biology, chemistry, alegbra II and Trig, pre-calculus, intro to psychology, human development, neuroscience, as well as Spanish at the high school level.

I have been a private tutor in the past for math, English, and Spanish, and I have worked at the Kumon Learning Center for 3 years.

I love being able to see the excitement and joy on a student's face when they understand a concept or do a problem correctly. It makes me happy to know that people can acheive and learn things that they were once afraid or uncertain of. I also just love to share my love of certain subjects with others and hopefully allow them to also love it.

I started by getting a job at Kumon Learning Center and I have grown to love teaching. It allowed me to do private tutoring with students from my high school.

I have a high school diploma and I am currently in college. I have taken biology and chemistry in college and I have gotten As in both. My current GPA is a 3.94.

I have also worked as a private tutor and at the Kumon Learning Center as a tutor for 3 years throughout high school.

About the lesson

I look at the homework or problems that the student is having trouble with and I try to work through the problems with them step by step and explain everything as best as I can. If I know the topic ahead of time I will also bring some extra problems or questions to make sure that they have a good grasp of the material once we go over their homework. Overall, my goal is for the student to have a good understanding of the material and I encourage them to always ask questions and try to work out the problem slowly and carefully.

I have worked with kids from ages 4-12 at Kumon and I have worked with high school aged students as well. I am also open to working with college students.
