About Mikayla

Tutoring is one of my greatest passions in life. I tutored in college at USC for over 3 years, including one-on-one and group tutoring. I've also been a teaching assistant for several years in science classes like chemistry and physiology. I get great pleasure in helping students have "lightbulb" moments where they finally discover how to do problems that are difficult for them.

I especially enjoy when students start loving science as much as I do. Science can be a tricky subject to love because it is very complex, but I love when my students start wanting to work on problems with me. It just shows how my enthusiasm spreads onto those I work with.

I started tutoring elementary level students in high school and I never stopped! I love working with students to bring out their best potential in classes that are traditionally difficult. Just because you struggle with a concept at first doesn't mean you have to struggle for the rest of the year!

I worked as a tutor and supplemental instruction leader for three years, and I was a teaching assistant for 2.5!

About the lesson

I like to get to know how the student learns first so I can plan out materials and practice problems for our next session. At the first session, we will just go over what you are having trouble with and hopefully I can give you study tools that have worked for my other students in the past so you are able to work individually.

I have worked with elementary, high school, and college level students.

Make sure you aren't just getting the answers to your homework or study guides. Learn from your teacher how to study in this subject so you can be independent in the future.

One of my students a few years back told me she wanted to be a teacher because she was inspired by my group tutoring sessions. I will always remember that moment fondly.
