About Shana
I am both a Teacher in NYC and a Scientist. I love working with students one on one and assisting them with concepts they have not yet managed to grasp in class. I have experience working with students with a variety of learning needs and helping them excel in class and in state tests. I have experience in teaching Earth Science, Living Environment and AP Biology. I look forward to hearing from you and finding out how to tailor your learning experience.

First sessions with new students are to assess their current needs and get to know them as learners. Typical first sessions start with a conversation about how the student is finding the subject and to assess, through conversation, student motivation and percieved strengths and weaknesses. Students are then assessed for content and skills so that an individual learning plan can be developed to best support their needs. Parents are contacted (either via email or phone based on their preferance) and the learning plan is discussed before we proceed.
