About Zahra

I am a senior in college majoring in biology at UT Dallas. I tutored students throughout high school and am currently pursuing a teaching certification in addition to my degree. I have experience tutoring students from third to eleventh grade. I really enjoy working with students and helping them achieve their goals!

I am passionate about science and love working with students!

I started helping my little sister with homework when I was in elementary school. Then, once I got to middle school I started tutoring students in my neighborhood and my parents' friends children. When I got to high school I started putting up flyers and tutoring students in any class I had already taken.

I graduated high school with credit for biology, chemistry, and calculus. I have also taken chemistry and calculus courses in college. Additionally, in order to earn my teaching certification, I have taken courses that have given me the opportunity not only to learn how to plan a lesson but also to create and teach a lesson. This gives me insight as to how teachers plan their lessons and what they want students to get out of them, which helps me steer students in the right direction.

About the lesson

Especially when I'm working with high school students, I ask for their exam schedule and the topics they would like me to go over with them in advance so I can be prepared when we meet.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
My tip would be to go over all the material and figure out what you don't know before going to your teacher. If you ask your teacher specific questions, he or she will most likely be receptive and go over what you do and don't need to know. If you just go up to a teacher and say your confused, he or she will be far less equipped to help you.
