About Katie

My name is Katie and I am a recent graduate from Louisiana Tech University. I have a BS in biochemistry, and I am passionate about teaching and helping students pass their classes.

I began teaching by becoming a teachers assistant at Louisiana Tech. I then obtained a job at an early learning center. Both of these jobs have given me a lot of knowledge on how to teach.

I have taught freshman college chemistry labs for about 3 years. I tutored many students in the process. I have a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry which makes me very knowledgeable in science related topics. I also have my ancillary certificate for infants-6 year olds. This means I have worked with children of young ages and have experience teaching them as well. I believe this showcases my ability to break things down and make sure everything is on my students level!

About the lesson

First I would ask the student how they learn best. Do they learn well by doing a lot of example problems, do they need mini supplemental lessons, or maybe a combination of both? Some students may just have a list of questions that they need answered or clarification on.

I have worked with college students and children. I believe this broad age range allows me to teach almost any student of any age.

If you are looking to find a tutor for biology or chemistry, then please make sure they are passionate about these topics. Talk to them about where you are struggling in class. Make sure this person is able to explain things in plain terms to you!

I found out that I am expecting my first child due in February 2023! I am having a lot of fun experiencing pregnancy and all the excitement of becoming a mom.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What are your goals for each tutoring session? Do you know what you are struggling to understand? I suggest making a list of questions and topics that you'd like to discuss. Send it to your tutor the day before your session so they can look at it in advance and be prepared to use your tutoring session time wisely.
