About Katasha

Hello,

My name is Katasha Brown and I live in Sunny Florida. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Creative Writing and a Master's Degree in Public Relations. I have a passion for writing and have been working on a book of my own. I have also aided in proofreading and editing published books. I have had the honor of working with mentors who have taught me that writing is not only an art but it is also an every day tool we use as well to express ourselves in a way that can be displayed through our writing.

My goal is to not only teach you the tips and tricks of solid writing but to also market yourselves. Public Relations is also an everyday need. And it is something that is seen every single day through ads, commercials, even your friend telling you about this product that the just cannot live without. With both writing and marketing, you'll be a force to be reckoned with.

I started teaching when I realized there was a need for creative writing. Creative writing isn't only a profession but it is an outlet or a therapy for some people. It helps with emotional release and it is helpful when trying to express yourself.

I have a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Creative Writing and I have a Masters of Arts in Public Relations. I have proofread and edited over a dozen authors who are now published.

About the lesson

First I would like to ask the question, why Creative writing? What is the end goal to learning about Creative Writing? Other questions I would ask are what type of reading do you enjoy? How long have you been writing? Who are your favorite authors? Then I will follow up with requesting past work to analyze the student's writing style. To determine how I would approach to teach their lessons.

I have worked with Adults, College Students, High School Students, and Middle School Students.

Be sure to express your expectations. If you know what goals you want to achieve, then please let your instructor know. Also be sure to let them know your learning style. Everyone learns differently.

A Recent event that is near and dear to me is when a former professor of mine reached out to me to ask if I could speak to her students. It was my 'Fictional Writing' professor and she had used my work as an example to her incoming students for several months before asking me. After my speaking engagement, many students expressed their gratitude. It made me feel as though my tips and experiences really helped them.
