About Virginia

The pleasure comes to me from seeing excited faces when students succeed in the line dancing fun. Your brain is exercised along with your body in a happy and challenging way. We do beginner and intermediate dancing with a goal to see each participant improve each time. I have been line dancing for more than twenty years and have enjoyed some of the best teachers over the years. The advantage in line dancing is that you do not need a partner and you can participate with a group of like minded people who care about health, happiness, and fitness in a non-competitive atmosphere.

I just love line dancing and have worked hard to be able to communicate accurately the steps and moves necessary to dance the dances that we do. We try to have a mix of easy dances and more intricate dances to keep everyone engaged and challenged.

I have been a student of line dancing for more than twenty years and have benefited from the friendships and fun that we have experienced together. I was a teacher in middle school for four years and thoroughly enjoy teaching.

About the lesson

We assimilate each new student into our happy group. We do easy dances and harder dances. The steps are like words in a sentence. They are arranged to make a pattern that is repeated throughout each musical selection.

We are mostly ladies, but have welcomed several gentlemen to our classes. The dress is casual; your shoes are the most important; they need to slide adequately but not too much and jeans, shorts, ankle length, pants are better than dresses. Cowboy hats are welcome but not necessary and the same goes for boots. The age range is young adult to seniors.

The secre to line dancing is only to keep on keeping on until it feels good.

Recently we are just so happy to be able to get back together and to dance.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
If a person is healthy and wants to learn line dancing, he or she should be looking for a group that meets regularly and in a place that is conducive to dancing and a teacher who cares about students and works to provide the incentive and ability to succeed.

Details

No. I teach at the Riverview Club in St. Augustine. The fee for participation in activities for those who are not members is $5 a session. I am not paid, but volunteer each Monday evening 6:30 - 9:00 and Wednesday morning 10:00 till noon. Any gift toward my expenses is welcome but not at all necessary.
